"MUTE" A Poem By Olayiwola Olaoluwa– Pawners Paper

Everywhere was silent like still waters, Dad went to the Peters, Lil Bro went for a date, I can't seem to remember the Date.

Olaoluwa's "MUTE"captures the thriving issues in our society that has often left most people devastated.  With simple words and imagery, he narrates the plights of rape victims and the perpetrators as "villian enters in action, like he owns the mansion"  and their fear to disclose these happenings out "I couldn't voice out". Indeed, Olaoluwa sure has a story to tell in his poem "MUTE"

A scared girl

MUTE

Everywhere was silent like still waters,
Dad went to the Peters,
Lil Bro went for a date,
I can't seem to remember the Date.

The Villian enters in action,
Like he owns the Mansion,
Looking like a thief in the Night,
His eyes locked on my exposed Breast,

Where is your Dad, he asks,
Hope He is around,
I have to discuss a new Project I found,
With him,

Hearing my response,
Which is, I am all alone,
He grinned wickedly,
I don't know his wicked thoughts,

He came close grabbed me,
Tore my Clothes,
I was overpowered,
Trying my best not to be Raped,

He had his Ways,
Took away my Dignity as a Princess,
Turned me into a Rag,
I was useless at the Moment,

Tears burst out from its place,
I wanted to Scream out,
I couldn't voice Out,
The shame is all I could think Of.......
