The Boys Are Not Stones is an initiative purposely geared towards creating awareness, giving voice and showing concern for the boychild and male folks. The call for submission for The Boys Are Not Stones Anthology started few years ago, and has since then, being able to gather amazing works that focus on its central theme "the boychild awareness"
This is the fourth edition of this anthology.
Recent Contests
The theme of this edition of the anthology is “DEMIGODS”: Celebrating Fathers, Friends and Heroes. Priority would be given to entries that celebrate manhood and male folks.
However, entries exploring sundry issues on the boy child, men and people of binary, multiple or neutral gender may be considered. Including those who may not be any of these, but play the role of fathers in families and in the society.
You are required to harness your creativity in any of the following forms:
- essays
- non-fictions
- drama
- poetry
- prose
- Audio and visual arts
Submission Guidelines For The Boys Are Not Stones Anthology
The following are the categories and rules for submissions:
Poetry:
A maximum of one poem per submission. (Maximum of 40 lines)
Prose:
Flash fiction, drama and short stories (fiction/nonfiction) not exceeding 300 words, 1,200 words and 2,000 words respectively. (Maximum of two entries per submission)
Essays, Articles & Reviews:
2500 words maximum. (Maximum of two entries per submission)
Visual arts, paintings and videos of not more than 12 minutes should be sent as email to boysarenotstones@gmail.com (Maximum of two entries per submission

To make audio, visual or picture based entries, entrants should send submissions via email to boysarenotstones@gmail.com with the subject – FOR THE BOYCHILD 2021, the category of the submission and the name of the entrant. E.g. “For The Boy Child 2021, Spoken Word Audio, Eze Babatunde Musa.
