Contest Girl, also known as "The Beauty Jungle" summarily appears to be a fascinating movie that focuses on the thrilling yet exhaustive journey to stardom, while giving some specific scenes that provides exposition to the likely challenges, competitions, pitfalls one might need to face in his or her endeavour to achieve these dreams. The main character, Shirley had to suffer through many major ordeals in her quest to climb the ladder in the major beauty business.

 

The contest girl is a classic 1964 movie that features notable actors and actresses who incredibly brought the movie to the limelight that it purportedly deserved. 

Contest Girl Plot Summary

Shirley Freeman lives in Bristol. However, while on an holiday Camp at Butlins , she was persuaded by a local journalist she met by chance to join a beauty contest. Her decision to go ahead with the suggestion led to her getting disowned by her parents. Subsequently, she also decided to walk away from her previous career as a typist. Her decision led to many groundbreaking achievement.

 Shirley comes second in a heat for the "Rose of England" contest, but her friend points out to the judges that the winner has not followed the rules and she is disqualified so Shirley wins by default, winning £300 and a trip to Monte Carlo. They enjoy the trip together, but Don changes the booking at the hotel from two single rooms to one double room. Whilst in Monte Carlo she enters yet another beauty contest, "Miss Trapeze", this is a chaotic contest set in a circus, but nevertheless she wins, winning 500NF. 

Returning to Britain she does a photo-shoot in Torquay with photographer Walter Carey (Ronald Fraser). She then enters the final of "Miss Rose of England" and wins, winning £1000.

On her quest to win Miss Globe Contest", she slept with one of the male judges with the expectation of being made the winner. Surprisingly, she came sixth. She eventually decided to stop entering beauty contests completely.

Another scenes that depicts Shirley commitment and desire to do away with the publicity stunt and the hypocrisy in the beauty profession, was where she walked away from being a judge after realizing that her younger sister, Eliane, entered the contest.
