Meet Ibukun Ajagbe (Ibquake), a Nigerian spoken word poet whose storytelling style and rhythmic performances have spawned a charming, defining outlook
In her performances, Ibquake, like a potter with unsullied mastery and enviable precision, creatively blends English with Pidgin to convey her messages seamlessly. Also, her sterling performances are marked by metaphors, similes, rhythmic flows and a compelling voice that enchants.
Ibquake's spoken word skills were birthed when she attended a spoken word class offered by the House on the Rock church. Charting onwards in her career, Ibquake participated in the De9jaspirit Talent Hunt and emerged as the first runner-up of the competition.
Beyond creating an environment that breathes on her compelling voice, Ibquake has also mastered the art of brand positioning, which allows her to blend flawlessly into every recognised circle, hence making her artistry even more unique.
Ibquake has performed on several stages and represented several notable brands, including MTN, the largest network service company in Nigeria. Her performances often included commentary on social issues, as well as themes of culture, faith and identity.
Recently, Ibquake captured hearts after featuring on 121 Selah's charming, friendship-inspired song, Let Me In.
