The poem immerses into an unsettling world devoid of any serenity. It consistently explored the motifs of pain, prayer, and struggle clearly throughout the piece, and even more resonantly, the title ties in effectively with the final line, creating a sense of closure and repetition.
PRAYER DIPPED IN TEARS
These prayers, dipped in tears, are offered to heaven’s lips,
Hoping maybe God will taste the bitterness and spit out help.
Flowers wither out of their beauty—a place they call home;
There’s blood on the road from their soles—
Bruised soul.
The night is dark, and the sun burns.
There’s nowhere safe, though the legs still run.
Every time the veil is thrown down,
It’s a display—a play—of pieces, scars, shattered hearts.
Pain performs solo on her stage,
Taking shots at the windowpanes of her happiness,
Letting the wind blow the rain into the basket of her eyes,
So she will not be able to hold it in.
Out here, the daily bread is prayer, dipped in tears.
