Kemi Adetiba (born January 8, 1980) is a Nigerian filmmaker, television director, and music video director.
Her projects have appeared on platforms such as Channel O, MTV Base, BET, Soundcity TV, and Netflix. She delivers engaging stories through film that have gained her much recognition. Through her storytelling, she has built a strong following of over 500,000 on Instagram.
Moving into television, she produced and presented programs on M-Net, including Studio 53 and Temptation Nigeria, which she co-hosted alongside Ikponmwosa Osakioduwa. She then became a presenter on Soundcity TV and hosted Maltina Dance All for three consecutive seasons.
Adetiba has directed prominent music videos such as TY Bello’s Ekundayo, Omawumi’s Today na Today, and Waje’s Ony, featuring Tiwa Savage. She has also directed videos for musician Olamide, including Anifowose and Sitting on the Throne, as well as Bez’s R&B single Say.
Her work has brought her awards, including Best Music Video Director at the City People Entertainment Awards (2015) and Woman of the Year in Film and Television at the HNWOTY Awards (2017). She was also nominated for Best Music Video Director at The Headies in 2014.
Her short film Across a Bloodied Ocean was screened at the Pan African Film Festival and the National Black Arts Festival in 2009. On September 8, 2016, Adetiba’s first feature film, The Wedding Party, a Nigerian romantic comedy, premiered as the opening film of the City-to-City Spotlight at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Cementing her sordid legacy in filmmaking, Kemi Adetiba has produced, directed, and written several cinematic blockbusters, including the critically appraised series, The King of Boys, To Kill A Monkey—which will air on July 18th—among several others.
