Babalakin & Co. Art Competition and Exhibition 2026 is currently open to young Nigerian artists aged 18-30 living on the continent or in the diaspora.
According to the organisers, the objective of the art competition is to promote Nigerian art, foster creativity, and celebrate Nigerian cultures.
In detail:
Promote Nigerian Art: Provide a platform for young Nigerian artists to showcase their work and gain international recognition.
Foster Creativity: Encourage Nigerian artists to push boundaries, experiment with new techniques, and explore innovative themes.
Celebrate Nigerian Culture: Celebrate the diversity and richness of Nigerian culture, highlighting its unique perspectives, traditions, and experiences.
Theme of the Babalakin & Co. Art Competition and Exhibition 2026
"Japa to Japada: Beyond Borders, Within Boundaries" explores complex emotional and socio-economic dynamics of Nigerian migration.
Insurance will be provided for any submitted or exhibited work.
Babalakin & Co will NOT be responsible for any work that is damaged during transportation or any work that is not picked up by the appointed dates. Exhibited work may not be removed before 30 September, 2026
Submission Guidelines for the Babalakin & Co. Art Competition and Exhibition 2026
Artists can submit images of up to 3 artworks in any medium (paintings, sculptures, drawings and mixed media) from 01 February to 30 April, 2026.
To participate, registration and artwork submission must be completed via the form.
Jurying
Jurying will take place between May - June 2026, by independent jurors.
Accepted entries will be posted on instagram @om234.art on 16 June, 2026
Award Night and Exhibition for the Babalakin & Co. Art Competition and Exhibition 2026
Award Night will take place on 03 July 2026
Top artworks will be exhibited for sale at Babalakin & Co. from 01 July to 30 September, 2026.
